Moby Live Recording
Posted by monster in General
As much as I really hate tie ins with online music stores such as iTunes, releases such as a live Moby recording cant be simply ignored. So I may have to swallow my pride to check out ….
“extensive critically acclaimed US tour in Fall 2009, Moby recorded an intimate live performance at the Montreal iTunes store to a captivated audience. ‘Moby iTunes Live from Montreal’ becomes available around the world at iTunes …
For this special recording Moby performed tracks from his most recent album ‘Wait For Me,’ as well as some other classics from previous albums, with a rare ‘stripped back‘ set consisting of just guitar, piano, violin and vocals. Joining him for this incredible and unique performance were the very talented lead vocalists from his tour - Kelli Scarr and Inyang Bassey. “

Wikihood - iphone app

I came across a great use of the iPhone and it’s location capabilities. Essentially it uses your location to query a wiki. The information it retrieved and the way it presented it was great.
I would recommend giving it a go.
Iphone

I have just changed mobiles from a Samsung Soul to an iPhone. As much as it is a brilliant app platform it does have a few annoying absences on the phone front. For example the Soul had multiple modes such as car, outside, meeting and so on. Groups on the Soul can be given ringtones as well as individuals (an app opportunity to create the effect?)
My last critism is the predictive text isn’t as quick as the Soul. Although that maybe partly because of the full keyboard.
Final observation is that the Bluetooth could easily offer a lot more without needing to resort to jailbreak.

Either someone had a good New Year’s celebration or the council are as good at collecting glass for recycling as they are gritting the roads.

A reasonable gig, but I’ve seen Gomez perform a lot better. he big surprise of the night was Frightened Rabbit, the support band who put in a very impressive support set. This is a band with lots of potential.

The warped media industry
Posted by monster in General
The Electronic Frontier Foundation have a rather good article about the frustrating and crazy behaviour of the media industry (film, TV & music) towards innovation and technology. Although a lot of this is not new thinking it is well expressed, and also highlighted in the light of the fact that recent findings have shown Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) actually have helped advertising not hindered it.
